Hundreds of verses by different poets in different time are composed to show the love story of Shirin and Farhad, but none are as touching as that of Nizami(1141- 1209). From one hand Nizami describes Farhad love for Shirin as an unprecedented/ unparalleled love, on the other hand he portrays him as the most powerful man and a sculptor par excellence.
Although he consciously does not use the word sculptor(piker saz or mojassameh-saz) but the way he describes how Farhad made the statue of king Khorow on horse or on the side of Shirin, it is obvious, Farhad was the court sculptor. The later painter whom illustrated the scenes of the love stories of Shirin and Farhad, they clearly and successfully managed to illustrate Nizami’s ideas.
